Gisborne Childrens Health Camp

Te Puna Whaiora - The New Zealand Foundation for Child and Family Health and Development achieves outcomes for vulnerable children and families who are experiencing serious inequalities and are at risk of adverse health, education and welfare outcomes.

The Brief

Te Puna Whaiora is a privately funded social welfare program which has been operating in New Zealand for the past 82 years. The organization is designed for children in Jeopardy due to adverse health, education and welfare conditions. The goal of the Camp is to enhance social and life skills for these vulnerable children. Urban Lounge Interiors was asked to design comforting and inspiring spaces for these children to begin their new positive futures.

Interpretation

With the large property comprised of multiple blocks including children’s housing, administrative departments, dining halls, and a school including a gymnasium, the objective was to create a cheerful and uplifting interiors package. From architectural interior finishes to furniture, paint colors, and artwork the result is a cohesive Camp where the children can take pride in their environment and thus build new found confidence and a positive self image.

Testimonial

A Testimonial from Dr Inkpen, Chief Executive, Te Puna Whaiora Childrens Health Camp. As a particularly busy "trust" our board continuously walks the fine line between the resources we have, budgeting constraints and the need for improved facilities for our children. Therefore to work with the team at Urban Lounge Interiors, a company that not only respected our budget, but worked hard to give us good value for money, plus their ability to interpret the specific needs of our camps, made the execution of the completed project so much easier and enjoyable.

To see the look on the children’s faces, when they arrived to enjoy bright fun colours, easy to make beds, and well designed layouts was pure joy.
